The Small Ruminant Community Necropsy Registry (SRCNR)

The Small Ruminant Community Necropsy Registry (SRCNR) is a public, community-submitted collection of necropsy case reports created to advance knowledge of small ruminant health. Through voluntary submissions, the registry compiles real-world cases from goats and sheep.

Historically, necropsies in small ruminants were most often performed to investigate high-impact infectious or reportable diseases, primarily in commercial settings. Only in more recent years have necropsies become more common for older animals, pets, and individuals with chronic or complex conditions. As a result, there is still a limited body of shared information on many disease processes, age-related conditions, and long-term health outcomes in these species.

The SRCNR exists to help fill that gap. By making anonymized case summaries freely accessible to owners, veterinarians, students, and researchers, the registry supports education, pattern recognition, and informed decision-making within the small ruminant community. Each case contributes to a growing body of collective knowledge.
